Wyclef Gets Another Humanitarian Award

CaribWorldNews, LOSA ANGELES, CA, Mon. June 29, 2009: Haitian-born Grammy Award-winning singer, Wyclef Jean, last night accepted the 2009 Humanitarian Award of the Year from BET Awards.

The Haiti Goodwill ambassador was honored for his role in giving back to his native land, through his Yele Haiti foundation.

Jean used the opportunity to encourage all to go after their dreams. Citing the fact that he came from a hut in Haiti, to the Projects in Brooklyn and now to a mansion, the singer advised: `You too can do it.`

Jean was honored along with singer Alicia Keyes, whose father was born in Jamaica.

The Haitian singer, songwriter and producer was recently honored for his humanitarian works by the WHY foundation.
